Abel walked with his two young sons for several days. They had to reach the border crossing. He knew if they remained in the country they would get hunted down.
He had told his sons that they were to visit their dying grandmother. They had never met her. Once across the border he would tell them the truth.
At last they reached the border guards. Abel had the papers, the documents.
“Why do you need to go out of the country?” asked a guard.
“I am taking my sons to see their dying grandmother. They have never met her,” said Abel.
“Then you had better hurry,” said the guard kindly as he stamped their documents. “The van here will take you across the border.”
As the van set off, Abel knew they were heading in the wrong direction.
