Bronwyn hired a bubble machine for her class’s stage performance. It was “Grandparents’ Day” at school. The children were to stage a little play to entertain the grandparents. When the performance was over they would have a cup of coffee made of course by the class.
One of the exciting things Bronwyn had done with the class was to make stilts. During the play all the children had mastered stilt walking and would do a little dance. It was quite safe as the stilts weren’t very high.
The curtains opened! The play began! The bubble machine began to shower the stage with glorious bubbles. There wasn’t a grandparent who didn’t ooh and aah. It was time for the stilt dancers to enter.
Oh dear! The soapy bubbles had made the floor very slippery. Three stilt walkers slipped and broke legs. Grandpa Ned went up on stage to rescue them. He slipped and did his hip in. Bronwyn rushed on stage to turn the bubble machine off. She slipped and broke her wrist.
All in all it was a very memorable performance. Coffee was cancelled.
They all had a bubbling good time!

Hence the saying – Break a leg.

Bravo Bravo! What a performance!
I worked in an old rich town and they had a bubble machine downtown…I found myself drawn to it. It runs every day.

I love bubbles….I always have. I’ve toyed with buying a machine for our front porch…they make me happy! It’s the simple things in life.

It does make things slippery but they’re great. You have simple tastes Max. (P.S. I haven’t downloaded much of Lucy as yet as OneDrive is being difficult. I have used 10Gb and it says I’m entitled to only 5! I’ve deleted most (I think) but with yesterday’s electricity cut here on my road I’m behind in everything else.)

They took the admonition to break a leg very literally.

LOL – maybe some grandparent wished them “Good luck” instead!

I wouldn’t put it past them.

The tragedy of the missed coffee is breathtaking.

The cancellation of coffee can have extraordinary consequences. People in crisis would do without baby formula before they would do without coffee.

This had me in stitches and it’s doing the rounds. Good replacement for coffee.

Glad to have caused stitches. A stitch in time…

There is a van in my area that is painted in festive colors and has giant blowers on top that pump out thousands of bubbles. The “Bubble Bus” can be rented for events and it never fails to be fun. Of course that’s probably because I’ve never been at a Bubble Bus event on stilts.

What a fabulous idea – the van!

I’ve occasionally thought that if I wanted a new career, I would like to be the driver of the bubble bus. Everyone would always be so happy to see me.
