Hello Everyone – Today I’m going to do something different for a week and give myself a break. I am going to post a piano piece each day – Sunday to Saturday – and I’ve called the collection “Joyful Days”. Basically I think they’re happy pieces, and are modelled a little bit on Ragtime Music.
I thought of posting all seven days of the week at once and then decided to do it each day. Some are quite short.
So those of you who are not into piano music can take a break too, and I’ll see you all (hopefully) on November 14th!
So here is today’s Joyful Day: Sunday!

I loved the rollicking good time piano tune. Enjoy your time off Bruce. I hope your ear is OK. Cheers

Thanks Matthew. I shall certainly rest my ear as all my music listening is done through headphones and I can’t put them on my ear!

You’re down an ear? What happened?

I had a nightmare and flayed about – hit the grill of a heater (it wasn’t going) and took off the skin inside my right ear. The plastic surgeon took 5 hours!

This isn’t one of your stories right? Wow Bruce – 5 hours! Do you remember what the nightmare was about? I wish you a speedy recovery.

It was a nightMARE – I was rescuing a little foal stuck in the mud and was attacked by its mother and I leapt over the fence which just happened to be the bedside table.

That’s sleepwalking on another level. My parents would catch me doing it a lot.

Was that a nod to Scott Joplin I heard?

Yes it’s going to be a week of Scott Joplin imitations!

You mean I had an ear! It summer hot over here and I have to wear a woolly cap to cover my ears.

You could always model the gauze variety.

That is an excellent piece that grabs you at the outset and holds till the end. How is your injured ear?

It is stitched up and I (apparently) won’t know till Friday next.

Do you ever write lyrics to these? It’s a wonderful little tune.

I haven’t written lyrics to these but I did write songs for children’s/teen’s school musicals for about 20 years! Not a single hit amongst them!

LOL…well they gotta be heard before that happens! That does sound like a lot of work but rewarding.

There were once – in the 90s – around 10,000 productions of my plays and musicals – but I was never famous. People knew the works but not me!

Oh my goodness Bruce…wow. Are they ever revived now?

No – I don’t think so – the world has changed – for example a lot of the children’s plays had Christmas themes – and schools won’t use them any more! And the wrong pronouns. And… etc.

Oh that is right…he or she doesn’t cut it anymore.
I keep hoping this nonsense will eventually pass.
