Music 397-399: Three pieces to play while wearing a silly hat

Ok. Ok. I’ve put off posting these three short pieces for piano because every time I post music I lose another three quarters of this blog’s followers. And followers these days are getting perilously low. Thank you faithful ones!

Wearing a silly hat might thankfully distract from having to notice the music! Who knows? Anyway, here they are:

Silly Hat I – audio HERE, sheet music HERE.

Silly Hat II – audio HERE, sheet music HERE.

Silly Hat III– audio HERE, sheet music HERE.

I am Not very musical but all three were enjoyable! I prefer instrumental rather than vocal. saw it was for piano but thought it sounded more like a harpsicord? The hat was a nice touch but prefer more music. Thank you!

I like one and three….and three the best…I like how you move in that one.

I like the second and it made me anxious lol…because of some of the jarring chords…I’ve done that before.

Thanks Max. The first section of number 3 is how I used to sit at the piano playing for hours before I had any lessons! And there’s some mordents here and there in the third e.g. at ’32, 34, 37, 50, 54 etc.! I thought of you when I put them in!

I noticed them and loved it of course! They make it sound so joyful.

The reason I took so much time replying is because of the second piece…. there was those notes together that was jarring… it reminded me of a Beatle song…not melody but the way you used those chords… and for the life of me I can’t think of it…but I will find it…and post back on here.

Ok Bruce….this is one of them but not the one I was thinking of….listen to around 25 seconds to 30 seconds…it’s jarring but it gets your attention.

Yes it is jarring (I presume we’re talking number 2) – that’s two bars of exactly what I said about the first part of number 3 – it’s what I played as a kid for hours – no key – no method – and I grew up addicted to the sound!

Yes the 2nd one. It works well though…it grabs people’s attention and it fits and sets up the rest of it.

Sorry to be late. I was rummaging through the 3 Op Shops in town and finally found a silly hat. Sure enough, while I was wearing it and listening to your compositions, a very posh neighbour knocked at the door. I guess I’ll be the talk of her next tea party. Sigh.
