Music 356-361: Six Dances from the Afterlife

Hi Everyone

Here are some dances for the piano called Six Dances from the Afterlife in honour of Halloween! (The computer is playing them as my mic is broken – so even though the electronic piano sounds a bit tinny it’s probably better than my piano playing these days!)

I had set out inspired by Bach’s various suites, but by the time there was a sort of Allemande, Courante, Sarabande and Minuet completed, the Air and Gig got thrown out the window in favour of a kind of Two-step for Two and one called Kick Off Your Shoes.

        Bruce selfishly I hate to hear that. I enjoy your company and posts. Please stay in touch Bruce…you have my email. Are you pulling the plug completely or just taking a rest?

          Just taking a rest – as I can’t shut up. But I’m not “retiring” until December 6th – which is Story Number 2020 – the same number as the year! – and it will also be my 71st birthday. (So don’t for get to send a present).

            Well Bruce don’t ever leave completely…sorry you signed a contract…you just don’t remember. Are you sure you want to stop at 2020? Look how the year turned out!

            If I could I’d bake you a cake…of course with me it would come out of a box…but the thought would be there!

            I’m 18 years behind you…not long in the scheme of things.

                You got a deal. I know…when I was 18 I thought…hell it’s all downhill from here… I’ve always been an old soul…now my body is matching it.

    Having no experience of afterlife, I wondered why you called those pretty pieces music from afterlife. There are not many blogs I am reading anymore, so please don’t lob scary retirement thoughts at your readers!

      My retirement proposal is more of a “break”. And the best time to take a break is in the summer when I can go out and mow the lawn or something. I called the pieces “from the afterlife” simply because it was Halloween and I was trying to be trendy. But you’re right!
