Rebecca may have been a mere twenty-three, but she loved that old Nat King Cole song:
You will never grow old
While there’s love in your heart.
Rebecca had every reason to sing that song. She was in love. She would never grow old. Her wonderful boyfriend lived just across the road. In fact she was singing that very song as she crossed the road to visit her boyfriend when she was run over by a truck.
Somehow I KNEW that was coming. Hope she got hit by a florist’s van!

😀 A floral van would certain be a big funeral saving!

Well—she never grew old, so the song didn’t lie.

Goodness – in Myrtleford there’s surely no reason to get up before midday…?

Not that I know of. I’ll check the calendar. No, not my birthday.

We get the point, sir. If only Francis Bacon were able to lay his eyes on this story, he would have wholeheartedly incorporated the moral in his essay titled ‘Of Love’.

I’d be amazed if Francis Bacon managed to find the time to incorporate this story in his essay given he had to write all those plays for Shakespeare as well.
