I can’t believe how the time has flown. Persia turns twelve today! It seems just like yesterday that she was born. Doctors said my wife couldn’t have babies. It was a grievous blow, and then Persia came into our lives. My wife has some Iranian connections, so that’s where the name Persia comes from.
Persia has been the joy of our lives. We always wanted a girl, and it was a girl we got. Coming home from work every weekday, it’s such a joy to have Persia greet me. I have never not felt the excitement. Tonight I brought home some special things to celebrate, and celebrate we shall. Also, my wife has had hidden away a little parcel as a birthday surprise. It’s a secret!
Happy Birthday, darling Persia!
As you can see, we really love our cat.
Nice twist, Bruce – gave us a good laugh

Your post captures the predicament of those whom Mother Nature ruled out of the reproduction game. That was a cruelly sweet twist.

One of your good twister endings. And it’s true that our pets become members of the family and like people to us.

Thanks, Noelle. I had scheduled this story months ago and almost took it down when you had your recent loss… but in the end, despite sadness, we all get on with it!

We are going to get another cat next week or the week after from a no-kill pet shelter. Can’t wait. I need another fur ball in my life…

That’s great news! And I look forward to learning the name!

I’ve narrowed our search down to two – a 6 year old orange female and a 3 year old dark calico. We’ll see when we meet them!

I’ve never heard of an orange female – I thought that the orange colour was sex-linked?? Hence the term “Ginger Tom”. Just as calicos are always female…?? You would know what’s what from your science background… My cat is (different terminology here in New Zealand from the States) tortoiseshell with white and a girl!

Both of my orange cate – Elijah Moon and his brother Ezekiel – were orange tabbies. But Pearl, the female we are looking at, is definitely female! Will post pictures in a short while.
