Don’t want to skite but we’re so light
That we can fly high in the sky.
Cirrostratus, Altostratus, Nimbostratus,
Cirrocumulus, Altocumulus, Stratocumulus…

I had to look up the word “skite.” Just like clouds, this music seems luminous and ominous all at the same time.

You made me check the word “Skite” – and I had intended the NZ meaning – which I had thought was universal – but the Scottish meaning makes sense in this context as well!

‘Skite’ I believe is unique to our part of the world Bruce – I once met someone newly here from Scotland who was totally bamboozled by our use of the word. It led to some hilarious misunderstandings! I liked this music too.

I had to Google ‘skite’. I wonder whether kite is a derivative? They are indeed light enough to beat the gravitational forces and yet they toss and twist my guts when I am aboard a plane. Once I thought I was about to die but then I smiled thinking how I might become a part of them… Then I could rain on the rooftops with that clattering sound, and skite onto the lawns, cling to the petals of flowers and shine.

You just a lovely raindrop!! Cynthia had to google skite as well – although the New Zealand meaning of it is “to show off” – used both as a noun and a verb.

I never realized how localized (according to Yvonne Upper and Lower Down Under) the word “skite” was!
