It was possibly one of the most extraordinary things that could have happened. Bernice was gob-smacked. It wasn’t just that she was flabbergasted by the scene; it was the fact that her husband, Norman, had never been so terrified in his life.
“That’s certainly one to remember,” said Bernice to Norman. “It knocked the bejesus out of me.”
“Me too,” said Norman. “I just about shit my pants.”
To think! It had been an ordinary start to the day. And then… that happened…
“I’m still reeling,” said Norman.
“I know,” said Bernice. “Look at you. You’re still shaking.”
It will certainly go down as one of the more memorable moments in their married life.

These are not known as the Shaky Isles for nothing! And they’re starting to call the capital of Wellington, Wobblington!

I’ll take that as a “yes.” 🙂

Oh, crikey! Your stories are beginning to take on a life of their own, and are affecting seismic activity.

We just had an earthquake!!! 5.1 – centred at Masterton apparently. I went and stood under the doorway.

Not pleasant memories for me , but I did not feel that one. Sometimes, however, I can feel earthquakes that no one else can feel (should I worry ?)

We had a 5.something in 2011 in Virginia and l wouldn’t want to be in one rated higher. Ugh. Perhaps that was what happened in the story. An ordinary day–interrupted by a 6.1 earthquake. That would terrify me!

I wondered – after the quake – if it wasn’t what was in the story! Both my parents – in different parts of the country – were in huge earthquakes when they were kids. In fact, for my mother it was very hot so the teachers extended the lunch break, and the chimneys fell down into the classrooms but all the kids were playing outside!

Wow. Things like that make you wonder about nature and its ways. I hope you had no damage or breakage. But, man, I can relate to the scary with them.

I think it’s a term not found in the States – but I know it’s used in Britain and certainly in New Zealand. So I can’t claim credit for originality!

I’m thinking they both figured out they were in one of your stories and they expected to come to a horrible end… only they survived…. now THAT is gob smacking material. 😉

There are many methods of charting horror on paper; whisking up a wordstorm is one of them.
