(On an irrelevant note: For those interested – yeah, right, that’ll be a lot – all my past poems now have an audio. So if you go back and click on the poems, it’s possible to hear them poorly read! And now to the business at hand…)
Once again, Oscar (I won’t call him my friend in this public forum because then this award might look like nepotism) of In So Many Words has conferred upon me an award which possibly must rank as one of the loveliest of all. It’s the
RESPECT AWARD!
The Respect Award can be given to fellow bloggers who consistently reach out to other bloggers, offer support, are kind, struggle to understand differences in people, and who treat themselves and other people with kindness and respect.
What a lovely thing to get!
The award picture itself is the work of photographer and artist Robert Goldstein who set the award up.
Thank you, Oscar.
You don’t have to do anything for this award. You can choose to copy the Award Picture and give the award to the people who have earned your respect or you can do nothing but glory in its bestowal.
I’m going to pass it on just to the one person. Sylvie posts twice – once in French (her native tongue) and once in English:
French – Poesie visuelle
English – Visual poetry
My own French has a few limitations. When I lived in Quebec (and smoked) I could go into a shop and say “Marlboro” and the French-speaking shop attendant would hand me a packet of cigarettes. Does that count as being bi-lingual or what? And then, when the French-speaking landlord would visit he would say “Any spare navets?” and I’d give him a cabbage out of the garden. Pretty cool, eh?
Anyway, Sylvie deserves such a Respect Award. Apart from presenting her poems and writings and being a bridge from one language to another, she always supports the blogs of others whole-heartedly.
It’s a strange phrase, and I’m not sure how universal it is, but Sylvie is what we call “a hole in the wall” – it’s someone who enables others to pass freely from one cultural garden to another.
Merci, Sylvie.
I follow both of her blogs, and I concur with everything you say about Sylvie: She’s the cat’s pajamas, the bees knees, and la crème de la crème! (She writes lovely French poetry, too. 🙂 )

Very nice award! Sylvie has been good about my awful French and accepting when I go to the English blog instead. And the poems and photos are great as well!

I agree, Lisa. And she’s a great other’s blog supporter as well. Does she live in Quebec, France, New Zealand….? I should ask!

I think she’s been spending some time in Montreal, recently, but is heading back to NZ in a couple of days….

I think she’s visiting Montreal for now, but was in NZ. Peripatetic, perhaps??

It was never awful. I am so impressed to see so many English speakers interested in my little poems in French and most importantly in French in general 🙂

Mmmm……….. I wonder will we have to make an appointment to read your posts soon, or will you stay the same bountiful, well rounded and respected bloke despite all these awards being tossed about your feet? I don’t know your nominee and am reluctant to have more blogs to follow – it becomes a time conundrum doesn’t it – what to do, what to do!!

I think Sylvie is from Chch! And yes, one can get too many and the front garden starts to get overgrown for want of time!

Congrats. Sylvie is an excellent choice. I, too, follow both her blogs. As for your bilingual qualification, it all depends on how you pronounce your Rs

LOL! At the bottom of NZ they still roll their Rs – jolly Scots settlement!

Thank you Derrick. I think if you can get your cigarettes, you qualify 🙂

Re your “irrelevant note”: I could not get the first 8 poems to play…from 9 onward ok.

Hi Cynthia – I’ve gone back and checked and can’t find anything wrong. However, I changed the file names and reloaded them. When you get a moment could you try again and see if it works and let me know. The new ones all were 1-12. Thanks

I went back to the archival roll and poems 1-8 still did not play, while poems 9-15 did play. So I tried a different tack….I hit the “Leave a reply” button on each of the first 8 poems in turn, and each one played! Conclusion: each one plays when you click from the archive page to its specific comment/reply page, but only 9-15 play on the archive page. I very much enjoyed the poems, Bruce.

Thanks for going to so much trouble, Cynthia. And thanks for enjoying the poems. It must be something to do with the way (perhaps) that WordPress archives the things… Glad you can hear it anyway, and now I won’t have to spend all day solving a problem I don’t really have!

So nice Bruce. I will only say thank you, it is totally embarrassing and do not know what to say. I enjoy this virtual world (a lot more than I thought I would). I wish sometimes I could meet you for real. I enjoy your blogs, your comments, your virtual company. Don’t ask me where I live, I do not know anymore, but will be in NZ for the next six or seven months. Thank you all 🙂

Captivating Mural. No award worth its salt in the ballooning Blogdom should miss Bruce Goodman.
