Dismayed is hardly the word. Seraphina’s parents were outraged. They had donated a brand new gymnasium to Seraphina’s school, and she’d never made it into the top athletics’ team. What was the school on about? Seraphina was one of their most talented athletes.
Nor was she placed in the class for accelerated learners. Didn’t the school realise how clever she was at mathematics? Not to mention her creative writing. And her art! Hadn’t they seen Seraphina’s parent’s refrigerator door with art works under the magnets? And she learnt the piano; classical of course. Come the annual assessments, and Seraphina did not do well. That’s what happens when teachers are incompetent. Her parents removed her from that school and placed her in another.

Poor, poor Seraphina!

It didn’t look like her parents were too poor! Speaking of schools… I have a great niece who goes to Kavanagh College down your way.

There’s financial wealth and there’s spiritual wealth Bruce. In this case the two seem incompatible………… Kavanagh has a great reputation and I’ve met some lovely girls over the years doing their time there.

As if it’s not going to be hard enough going through life with a four-syllable name!

I wasn’t sure how to pronounce it – Sarah-fee-na – Sear-raff-in-a – … maybe the Raph is Ray-ff – as what the British do with Ralph????

My preference is Sara–fee–na, but what do I know? I bet her little friends (if she has any friends at all by now) would enjoy calling her Ralph. It would tee-off her parents, for sure!

Maybe they’ll have to donate a little more, but we know how the story ends… (in real life) most of the time.

Would have worked in India where not only would Seraphina have been top of the school but her many future generations too!!

I really enjoyed this. Loved the repetition and the last line.

What’s that quote about the definition of insanity? Poor Seraphina. I hope she survives intact to escape!

Seems like the parents are going to run out of money for gymnasiums before Seraphina gets recognized!

Especially if she keeps catapulting from one gym to another!

Seraphina is an angel. Too bad she’s living under the hell her parents concoct. I’m certain this pattern will repeat with her suitors!

They (the suitors) don’t know what they’re in for!
