339. Easy-peasy

339easy

Nurse Beryl came to the elementary school to give everyone a pill. It was a pill to stop worms, or mites, or tics, or fleas, or something. Perhaps it was a pill to stop the flu, or whooping cough, or the measles, or whatever. Anyway, Nurse Beryl came to the school to give everyone a pill.

She handed out the pill to the first twenty students along with a little paper cup of water. “Just take the pill and go back to your class,” said Nurse Beryl. They all did that.

The next twenty students arrived. She handed out the pill to each student along with the little paper cup of water. “Just take the pill and go back to your class,” said Nurse Beryl.

“I can’t swallow it,” said Karen.

“Nor can I,” said Dwayne.

“I can’t either,” said Annette.

Suddenly Nurse Beryl had twenty students, none of whom could swallow their pill. She left them there. Charlize arrived. She was given the cup of water and a pill. Charlize was only nine years old, but she was destined to be a model. She was so lovely, and charming, and even glamorous. Everyone was jealous of her. She swallowed her pill, and left for the classroom, saying as she left, “That was easy-peasy wasn’t it?”

Easy-peasy! All twenty hesitant pill-takers suddenly discovered just how easy it was. Easy-peasy! Easy-peasy! Easy-peasy puddin’n’pie!

Gentle thoughts and expressions of astoundedness are both gratefully accepted.
