© Bruce Goodman 13 February 2014

In the 1800s, Bess had eleven children. There was one daughter followed by ten sons. They all married and had families. Bess felt blessed!

The First World War began. All nineteen of Bess’s grandsons went overseas to fight.

She never got a medal, but perhaps it was Bess who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Gentle thoughts and expressions of astoundedness are both gratefully accepted.
